Tsunami

Tsunami is a japanese word for a sea wave generated by an earthquaje or landslide under a sea or an eruption.

Most tsunami happen along the ring of Fire . It is a zone of volcanoes and seismiv activity . The zone enircles the Pasific Ocean.

Historically , tsunami have caused much destrucktion and death. Since 1883,about 20 tsunami have struck Indonesia . The last one, september 2010 on Mentawai and caused many people died.

A tsunami can have the width of 100 to 200 km and may spread far away across the deap ocean. The spead is as fast as a jet plane. When the wave reaches the land t can be very high, which is about 15m high or more.
